Is your body your temple?

" My body is my temple..."

Yeah, yeah, yeah... we have all heard that a thousand times! What exactly does that mean? Lets compare your body to a car. I know it is a little bit of a crude example, but it will simplify my point.

Regardless of whatever beliefs that you may follow, our stay on this planet is extremely brief. Your body is the machine that houses your soul, the machine that takes you from point A to point B, the machine that shows you the world and translates your life experiences. NOW, WHY WOULD YOU NOT TAKE CARE OF THIS MACHINE?

Your car has become a necessity of life. We depend on our cars to take us to work, to buy groceries, to pick up our friends, children, pets, my personal favorite road trips, and the list goes on. If we do not maintain our cars they begin to fail mechanically. Your car needs to be fueled and serviced properly to perform as intended. If you put in the wrong type of fuel or oil it will not perform correctly!

Unlike your car, you ABSOLUTELY cannot trade your body in for a new one!!! It is your one and only machine through life. The previous car example goes hand in hand with how you fuel your machine. What you put into your mouth directly correlates with how you function and perform in life. Whether you are a stay at home mom, a retired elder, a desk jockey, an elite athlete, or a weekend warrior. If you eat like shit you will feel, perform, and probably look like shit! (Please excuse the language.)

As we age our bodies break down faster and take longer to recover, and so it is imperative that we take the time to properly fuel ourselves and train our bodies to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.

Where do you want to be in 20 or 30 years? Hardly able to function, on every prescription drug available and having life pass you by. Or an active participant in life enjoying every pleasure that life has to offer! I choose the latter!
